RAWS-2024

IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR:
The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA-TIFR), Pune, are two leading centres of research in a wide range of areas in Physics and Astronomy and Astrophysics. IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR are located on neighbouring campuses in the Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus.

IUCAA offers challenging opportunities to young researchers in theory, observation, and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics. In addition to operating the IUCAA Girawali Observatory which has a 2-m optical telescope, IUCAA plays a leading role in the Indian contribution to the international astronomical projects like the TMT and LIGO. IUCAA is also a leading participant in the space based missions Astrosat and the Aditya-L1.

NCRA-TIFR offers exciting opportunities for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, and instrumentation, with an emphasis on radio astronomy. NCRA-TIFR has built and operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, which is located near Pune, and is one of the biggest and most powerful radio telescopes in the world at low radio frequencies. It has been used internationally and has led to several significant discoveries. NCRA-TIFR also operates the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT), which is located near Udhagamandalam. NCRA-TIFR also plays a leading role in the Indian participation of the international radio astronomy project SKA.

Radio Astronomy Winter School for College and University Students (RAWS-2024):
The Radio Astronomy Winter School for faculty and students of colleges and universities (RAWS-2024), will be organized by IUCAA's Astronomy Centre for Educators (ACE) and NCRA. It is a joint initiative of IUCAA and NCRA-TIFR Pune.
